Fire and Ice: 4 Reasons Prospects Go Cold

“Was it something I said?” you wonder. Why did your hot new prospect suddenly turn as cold as ice? It’s a predicament every one has experienced (if you haven’t yet, you will– and more than once). Before you make yourself crazy wondering why it happened, consider these four key factors:

#1 – Shifting Priorities
All of us have had problems we thought needed to be fixed immediately. Your prospect may have felt a sense of urgency when you connected the first time. But, as we can all relate to, something else came up, other priorities took over, or a different, temporary solution to the need presented itself.

#2 – Timing
Yes, timing is everything. We all love those occasions when a client is ripe and ready for your product or service, but that’s not always the case. People and businesses make decisions based on their timeline and for their reasons, not yours. This doesn’t mean your prospect will never make a purchase. The immediate need may have passed for a time, but keep them in circulation. Ask if you can keep in touch, and add them to your mail list.

#3 – Dependencies

Your perspective as an outsider is much different than if you could see the view from your prospect’s vantage point. No big decision is made is isolation. Each one is part of a complex system of related initiatives and projects happening at the same time. And more often than not, the person/people you met with didn’t consider all the interrelated dependences until after your meeting took place.

#4 – Shopping Around

Plenty of businesses conduct research and gather information through experts just like you. They shop around. If you sense this, be sure to ask questions that will help you determine if your hot prospect is truly interested in working with you, or just going through the motions.

So what now? One thing is for sure: the worst thing you can do is ruminate over it, asking questions in your mind that may never be answered. Try any of these proactive moves:

  • Don’t wait! Get out there and get busy finding more business!
  • Don’t passively send emails. Get creative with your follow up contact.
  • Don’t question yourself. Believe in your process and don’t lose confidence.

Finally, know that according to the National Sales Executive Association, 80 percent of new sales are made on or after five contacts! Much more research shows that about 85 percent of sales reps quit after making just three or fewer unreturned contacts. So be persistent! Don’t interpret lack of response as a closed door.

The 3 Ways To Get New Clients Fast

Sales is the lifeline of any business!

I get a lot of questions about ways to acquire brand new clients without spending a lot of time on advertising, on funnels and other time wasting activities that you’re probably going through in your marketing. So I’ll share with you my three favorites that I used in my client acquisition strategy that you can implement right away.

In this week’s video, I’m going to give you the 3 ways to get clients fast in your business and my #1 favorite that I use.

#1  Host Your Own Small Event

The key is that a small event can be very powerful even with just 3 to 5 people.  There is an energy at a live event that is just absolutely second to none. Live events are actually one of my favorite ways to acquire brand new clients. They’re your ideal clients and they’re just really waiting to hear from you. They want to know what you’re doing and how they can do business with you, so actually hosting your own small event is great and that’s the first one.

#2  Speak at Someone Else’s Event

Not a professional speaker?  No worries.  I didn’t start out with professional training when I was first speaking at live events and yes, now I’ve done thousands of events, but I will tell you I was no way polished when I first started speaking live.  You are teaching people what they needed to do and how they could get success faster.  Plus, you don’t have to fill the event. It cost you any money. Simply show up and speak.  These events are where your ideal clients are gathering and they want to hear from you!

#3  Exhibit as a Sponsor at Someone Else’s Event

This is my absolute favorite – to be an exhibitor at someone else’s live event. Again, all of your ideal clients have gathered in the exact right place and they are there to listen, learn, and actually see what you have to offer. So, exhibiting at another live event allows you to have your own learning experience, to create relationships, to really piggyback onto the energy of that live event and to be able to share your genius with people that literally walk up to your booth space or walk up to your table and there are absolutely waiting to hear from you.

So I can’t wait to hear about which client acquisition strategy that you choose.

How To Identify 4 Types Of Buyers

Income is key to any business! So is identifying who those buyers are!

We talk a lot about sales, selling, dealmaking, and often times we talk a lot about mindset, marketing and money, but today I really want to talk with you about how to identify your ideal client, your buyer, inside of your community. So this is a little bit different from actually identifying your ideal client. It’s identifying buyers, so there are four different kinds of buyers that we see inside of our own community and I’m sure that you’ll be able to relate to those as well.

In this week’s video, I’m going to tell you the 4 different buyers that are in your business and my #1 favorite buyer that I market too.

#1  The Quick-Start Buyer

The first type of buyer is what I call the quick start buyer. That’s like me, I’m a quick start buyer. I can see an opportunity,  I might have to take a look at a sales page or look at one or two emails, but I’ll be able to see pretty clearly if that particular program, service or event actually makes sense. When I see that it does, I’ll make a quick decision, and the decision will either be a yes or a no.

So, a quick start is someone that you love to have in your community because they’re able to see your offer, they’re able to see that your expertise applies to them and they’ll be able to make that quick decision. Now remember, not every single offer or invitation that you give to your community is going to resonate with them. Some things that you have, they’ll say, “YES, I need that right now” while other things they’ll say, “Oh, I don’t know, maybe in a little bit that might work for me”. So don’t get discouraged that everyone’s not a quick start because there are three other types of buyers.

#2  The Sideline Buyer

The second type of buyer is what I call the sideliner. This is someone that sits on the sidelines, they kind of watch from the distance. They never really get on the playing field in their business or in life. They just sit and they watch – viewing everything. They watch from a far and have a tendency to not want to take that step into your business. Whether they’re afraid or they just don’t want to play full out. So just know that you’re going to have people that like to sit on the sidelines and that those type of buyers won’t hurt anything but they may or may not buy from you.

#3  The Never-Ever Buyer

The third type of buyer is someone that I call the “never ever buyer”. They’ll just never buy from you but they may be on your list. They’re real consumers and yet they just aren’t ever going to buy and that’s okay. Oftentimes in your marketing, in your emails, what you want to be able to do is clear out the tribe. You want to keep them really pure into wanting to be a part of your organization, your community, and really engaged with you. There is nothing worse than having a huge email list or a gigantic facebook group and they are just dead weight for you, so you really want to clear out those folks that are just never going to buy from you.

#4 The Fact Finder Buyer

The fourth type of buyer is the fact finder. Fact finders are really interesting. Sometimes they’ll buy and sometimes they won’t. They like to find all the facts by looking at testimonials, sales pages, and emails before weighing the pros and cons. Sometimes it takes them a year, two years, three years. In fact, there was this amazing woman in the health and wellness industry. She actually attended one of my small events with about 30 people and she said to me, “I really want to become a client of yours”.  I didn’t remember meeting her, and she was actually in the audience at an event that I had spoken at three years earlier. So three years had gone by where she was fact finding, watching, looking before she agreed with herself to make the decision to become a client.

From Avocado Sales To DEALMAKER

From selling avocados for $0.25 Cents to Closing over A BILLION dollars in Sales

I’m answering the #1 Question that I get asked all the time…

It’s Kelly, “Why are you so comfortable with sales?”

And, “Why do you love selling so much?”

How did you get the nickname of “THE DEALMAKER”?

It’s a great question because I know everybody doesn’t like to sell.

In this week’s video, I’m going to tell you what I learned about sales at a very young age, and how I made sales FUN!

I know that a lot of people don’t like sales, and it’s kind of a scary thing. So literally after closing more than $1.5 BILLION dollars in sales personally, on the phone, face to face and at my live events, I personally didn’t think anything of it. It’s just my zone of genius. It’s what I do.

But when I really reflected back on that question, what made me really love sales? Of course it’s about the ability to serve my clients and to serve people that have a pain point or challenge and they’re looking for a solution to that.  But it’s also so much more.

I also think sales is fun and it started when I was nine years old. So I have been selling for a very long time. When I was nine years old I wanted a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of red ball jets. They’re kind of like Converse or Chucks would be today.

I was raised by a single mom so we didn’t have a lot of money. She had this amazing idea. She said, “go to your aunt’s house, pick Avocados, put them in a wagon and go door to door to sell them. Then you’re going to get your shoes.” I was like, “that’s an amazing idea.”

So I did just that. I picked avocados, I put them in the wagon and I went door to door and I sold these avocados. What I found is that I would go to somebody’s house and I would look inside and sometimes they had a dog or a cat.  

Sometimes their house smelled good or not so good :) and everybody was really nice. I sold these avocados for 25¢ each or 5 for $1.00. I’ll be honest, I was going door to door to door selling avocados and I thought to myself, this sucks. I didn’t really think it like that, more of, “I don’t like this”.

I just wanted to go find all my ideal clients and I wanted to sell all the avocados since I just wanted my shoes, right? A girl has got to have her shoes. So I stumbled into a cul de sac where all of my ideal clients were there waiting for me. Lo and behold, I sold all of my avocados and I got my shoes. So here was the big lesson that I learned.

First of all, I treat sales and selling much like an Easter egg hunt. It’s really fun, right?

Much like going to the door and looking inside and seeing what you’re going to discover. I love talking with prospects and potential clients to find out if I can help them.

What is it that makes them tick?
Where are they stuck?
What is their life dream, their life passion and what do they really want to do?

Because one of the things that I certainly love doing is helping my clients get results.

So that small day with an avocado turned into over a billion dollars in sales and I will tell you it has not always been easy, but it has always been fun and there’s always been a learning experience and it’s always been worth it.
