Hostage for 13 Years

Do you ever feel “held hostage” by your FEAR? I‘m sure you have BIG dreams, goals and passions.  You WANT so bad to get your work out into the world.  You KNOW you change lives.   Yet … you’re paralyzed with Fear.  Stuck … blocked.  Holding your own dream hostage with no way out.

I know the feeling.

You see, No Glass Ceiling has been my dream, goal, passion and legacy for nearly 20 years.  I have owned the Domain Name for 13 YEARS!!  Geeeeezzzz   I sat on it – put it out there – pulled it back.  So many people “waiting” for it to launch!

Yet, I was afraid … of what people would think, was it perfect, what if this and that.  All fear based.

When I was 9 years old I wasn’t afraid to cold call/knock on doors & sell avocados to buy a pair of shoes.  (but that’s a story for another time…

So why sometimes and not others?  I wanted to share with you how FEAR can paralyze you …for no reason at all.

Here’s “3 Powerful Ways to Breakthrough Barriers & Live a Fearless Profitable Life”

1. Stop making excuses

Barriers typically stem from memories of success and failure.  We avoid wanting to deal with pain, disappointment or discomfort. Sometimes it’s easier to use the fear or challenge as an excuse for not jumping in with both feet as we fear failure or disappointment of a repeat behavior if we don’t succeed. Imagine your greatest success or achievements – when you were completely and totally exhausted yet stayed the course and worked through your challenge.  When we look back, it really doesn’t matter how many times we tried and failed – we did it – we succeeded.  Think back … all the way back to childhood, you may discover the fear and firmly kick it to the curb!

2. Claim your strengths

Laser focus on discovering your strengths and work to improve them.  Everyone has weaknesses, limitations or challenges – instead focus on your strengths … what you’re really good at and find others who are strong in your limitations to fill in the gaps.You learn nothing about success by studying about failure. You learn nothing about your strengths by studying your weaknesses. Look at your brilliance, your passions and your mastery – then go get it!

3. Willpower – dig deep & leap

Fears and Barriers give most anyone the innate “fight or flight” desire to fight back. How you deal with your fears will ultimately point you in the direction of where you go and what you do with your life. It is your choice – live full out – or tremble in fear of challenges or barriers that happen throughout life.  Fighting back  is a false sense of control, so acknowledge your fear face to face. Like an enemy, it will rattle your perspective in a powerful way and robs fear of its power.

Remember, “Everything You Want is on the Other Side of Fear”!

When marketing to women, consider the following tips in order to see the success and results you desire. I’m mean …come one … we’re WOMEN (unless you’re a man reading this :) and are we catering to our OWN Market?  Here’s some tips….

1. Don’t look at women as a ‘niche’ market in any way, at any time. Women make over 85% of the purchase decisions as consumers and are the primary consumers in the U.S. They even influence more than 95% of all goods and services purchased. Women are top consumer purchasers but they’re business spending is reaching $8 trillion; female business owners spend close to $2 trillion on purchases for their businesses.

2. Remember that women don’t think like men. It’s important to understand your audience when it comes to marketing, so if you’re marketing to women, it won’t be the same as if you were marketing to men. Men’s thought patters are in linear fashion while women think in circuits and are programmed to be a collector of information. Something you may not know; the female brain has four times as many connections between right and left hemispheres than a man’s.  This means, the many signals go straight to her brain, where she stores emotional memories, her intuition and her past experiences. If a woman is reading something, she’s attaching her feelings to the words; not simply reading just to read. Women’s hearts are also in their brains so when marketing to women it’s important to tell a story that has the right amount of emotion, while explaining why your brand is the right choice for her.

3. Be Real, Not Fake. Some marketers will attempt to make shortcuts by ‘dressing up’ a campaign with female colors and topics, but it won’t work. Women today know what a men’s piece cloaked to appeal to women looks like and they won’t take a second glance at it. On the contrary, they want to find solid, legitimate information that is easy to comprehend and use, a company with awesome customer service and brands that really want them as consumers; who aren’t afraid to build a relationship based on the woman’s interest, identity and any problems she’s looking to solve.

4. Age Doesn’t Matter All the Time. It’s not uncommon for marketers to target the female audience based on age. However, this is somewhat of a mistake if you wish for your marketing efforts to be successful. No matter a woman’s age, she’s going to respond to marketing tactics that relate to her in her stage of life, not her age. In today’s world, women are having babies at age 40 instead of really young and starting brand new career paths well into their 50’s, dating again at age 60, and so on. Marketers need to pay attention to this and direct their marketing efforts based on a woman’s stage of life, tailoring their messages accordingly in order to get results.

5. Women Are Primary Online Users. The majority of web users are women who visit the websites of companies, take part in different forums and discussion boards, read many blogs and listen to podcasts. As marketers, it’s important to interact with consumers online and continue it ‘offline’ as well. Women, unlike men, will also take more time to really study, dissect and interpret marketing messages in a way that allows them to share it with others.

6. Women’s Boomer Market: Never Underestimate the Power of It. There is a whole lot of purchasing power within the women’s boomer market and marketers are slowly starting to be aware of this. The women’s boomer market think, live, and behave differently than generations before them. Behold the generation who reinvents and rediscovers life and all it has to offer on their own terms; not by someone else’s standards. Women in the boomer’s market prefer to have it all; adventure, style, security and most of all, respect.

Fire and Ice: 4 Reasons Prospects Go Cold

“Was it something I said?” you wonder. Why did your hot new prospect suddenly turn as cold as ice? It’s a predicament every one has experienced (if you haven’t yet, you will– and more than once). Before you make yourself crazy wondering why it happened, consider these four key factors:

#1 – Shifting Priorities
All of us have had problems we thought needed to be fixed immediately. Your prospect may have felt a sense of urgency when you connected the first time. But, as we can all relate to, something else came up, other priorities took over, or a different, temporary solution to the need presented itself.

#2 – Timing
Yes, timing is everything. We all love those occasions when a client is ripe and ready for your product or service, but that’s not always the case. People and businesses make decisions based on their timeline and for their reasons, not yours. This doesn’t mean your prospect will never make a purchase. The immediate need may have passed for a time, but keep them in circulation. Ask if you can keep in touch, and add them to your mail list.

#3 – Dependencies

Your perspective as an outsider is much different than if you could see the view from your prospect’s vantage point. No big decision is made is isolation. Each one is part of a complex system of related initiatives and projects happening at the same time. And more often than not, the person/people you met with didn’t consider all the interrelated dependences until after your meeting took place.

#4 – Shopping Around

Plenty of businesses conduct research and gather information through experts just like you. They shop around. If you sense this, be sure to ask questions that will help you determine if your hot prospect is truly interested in working with you, or just going through the motions.

So what now? One thing is for sure: the worst thing you can do is ruminate over it, asking questions in your mind that may never be answered. Try any of these proactive moves:

  • Don’t wait! Get out there and get busy finding more business!
  • Don’t passively send emails. Get creative with your follow up contact.
  • Don’t question yourself. Believe in your process and don’t lose confidence.

Finally, know that according to the National Sales Executive Association, 80 percent of new sales are made on or after five contacts! Much more research shows that about 85 percent of sales reps quit after making just three or fewer unreturned contacts. So be persistent! Don’t interpret lack of response as a closed door.
